What does SEER mean and why does it matter?

Dayco-SEER

SEER, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, is a way to measure the efficiency of heat pumps and air conditioning. As you know, when it comes to your home, efficiency matters. The more efficient a home is, the lower the energy costs. We strive for the highest level of efficiency in heating and cooling at Dayco.

The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio scale is determined by the calculation of the cooling output for a normal cooling season divided by the electric energy it takes to run it during the same cooling season. Just like miles per gallon for a car, the higher the SEER rating the higher the efficiency. For all air conditioners, the minimum SEER rating required is 13. On average, up to date air conditioners range from the minimum SEER requirement up to 21.

At Dayco Heating and Cooling, we offer a wide Range of Trane outdoor air conditioning units, ranging from 15.25 SEER all the way up to 22 (or maximum efficiency) SEER. The efficiency of your A/C or heating unit is also affected by the size of your house, and how well the rest of your system is working (including duct work). At Dayco, we not only install systems, but we offer several maintenance plans to keep your whole system running as efficiently as your Trane A/C unit. Call us today to get your system running efficiently, or schedule a new A/C install to beat the heat!
